Vitiligo is a condition in which the pigment is lost from areas of the skin, causing whitish patches, often with no clear cause.

Defining Characteristics

Hypopigmentation – usually splotchy; symmetrical involvement of body parts

Disease Development

Autoimmune destruction of melanocytes produces decreased or absent melanocytes

Histology? No melanocytes seen
